The BRS party that won 88 Assembly seats in the last elections will win 90 to 100 seats this time. It will also play an important role in the government formation at Cente, said BRS working president and IT minister K T Rama Rao. In an exclusive interview with a news agency, he said the Congress and BJP destroyed the country with their lopsided policies and greed for power.
The BRS government proved its mettle by taking the Telangana state to the number one position in various parameters. “We are number one in improving green cover, per capita consumption of power, per capita income, provision of employment, attracting investments and winning 30 per cent of awards from Central government agencies and so on,” Mr Rama Rao pointed out. Unlike the Gujarat model, the Telangana model is superior on all counts, he said.
The per capita income rose to Rs. 3.17 lakh from Rs. 1.14 lakh. As a result of the improvement of the irrigation sector, agriculture grew by 118 per cent, in the last two years, the state government provided 4,50,000 IT jobs as against Bangalore’s 1.46,000 jobs, the IT jobs in Hyderabad city account for 44 per cent of the total jobs in the country, IT exports rose to Rs. 2.41 lakh crore from Rs. 56,000 crores in 2014. “Take it any sector – welfare and development, the BRS proved its commitment. The party enjoys massive public patronage,” Mr Rama Rao explained. The BRS presently holds 32 Zilla Parishads, 142 municipalities, 136 municipal corporations, and 9,000 out of 12,769 Gram Panchayats. The list is endless. This shows the public patronage of the party.
There are several villages and hamlets in the country that do not have drinking water and electricity facility to date. Who is responsible for the sad state of affairs? Is it not Congress and BJP who ruled the country for the last seven decades? the minister posed. Mr Rama Rao said the BRS was registered as a national party and slowly expanding to other states. The party may not get the magic 272 seats in Parliament immediately but it will play a key role in government formation at Centre. Even BJP began its journey with just two seats in Parliament. The BRS is not in hurry but surely it will make a mark sooner or later.
The BRS is expanding in Maharashtra, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh. “We are waiting for the ensuing Zilla Parishad elections in Maharashtra where we are confident of winning a majority of seats,” Mr Rama Rao asserted. When asked if his party had any secret of winning the forthcoming assembly elections, he said: “The only secret is our party helped every section of the society. It encouraged poor and marginal traders. Every household got at least one benefit from the welfare programmes. The commitment of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao towards the welfare of people is proven”.
