The BRS working president KTR reiterated his stand that the Telangana brand shouldn’t suffer because of political differences. Reacting to the ultimatum issued by Amara Raja group regarding their investment plan in Telangana, KTR said that the Congress government should honor the commitments made to investors.
“We had worked very hard to convince Amara Raja to invest Rs. 9,500 crore in Telangana. The government is an institution that has to ensure policy continuity. I hope the Congress government will wisen up and honor the commitments made to all investors who’ve set up shop in our state,” said KTR.
KTR also urged the Chief Minister to stop making ludicrous statements about the state being in a debt trap, equating it with a cancer patient, etc. The former minister added that, in reality, Telangana is a vibrant, revenue-surplus state with the highest per capita income in the country.
“We have already seen Kaynes Technology leave Telangana for Gujarat and lost the Corning plant to Chennai. If Amara Raja now leaves, it would be a disaster,” said KTR.
Jayadev Galla, the CMD of the Amara Raja group, made it clear that the proposed greenfield lithium-ion plant in Telangana would go elsewhere if the new government fails to honor the commitments made by the previous BRS government.
