All set for PRLIS dry run at Narlapur pump house; farmers happy

Another historical moment in Telangana irrigation sector is about to unfold. The Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS) which was undertaken by the Telangana government to provide irrigation and drinking water to the erstwhile districts of Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy has reached a critical stage. It is being readied for the first dry run at Narlapur pump house. A team of engineers led by Chief Engineer Hamid Khan and the Government Advisor for Lift Schemes Penta Reddy has made all the arrangements for the dry run.

As part of the PRLIS scheme, water is to be lifted from the Srisailam reservoir backwater in six phases. In this regard, the government has divided the works into 21 packages. Out of that, 18 packages have been taken up from Narlapur to Uddandapur. Out of which 4 pump houses are to be constructed. Narlapur, Yedula and Vattemla pump houses have already reached the final stage. Uddandapur pump house works are going on in full swing.

Nine pumps with a capacity of 145 MW are to be installed at Narlapur pump house. 9+1 pumps each in Edula and Vattemla pump houses and 4+1 pumps in Uddandapur are to be installed. Installation of 2 pumps in Narlapur pump house, 3 in Eduala and 3 in Vattemla has been completed. In view of this the officials have prepared to operate the first pump dry run at Narlapur pump house today.

The 400KV substation installed at Narlapur Pumphouse has been successfully tested. The control panel and other electro-mechanical components of the first pump were tested for performance and were also successful. After that the pump dry run is completed successfully and it will be ready for wet run. Later water will be released by the Chief Minister KCR.

Farmers in erstwhile Mahabubnagar and Rangareddy districts are expressing happiness as the first pump dry run of Palamuru project is getting ready. They are happy that soon Krishna waters will irrigate their lands and the areas under the project will become fertile.
