20 trips in 8 months: Revanth’s frequent visits to Delhi strain state’s exchequer

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy left for Delhi on Thursday night, accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Sridhar Babu and Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who traveled with him on a special flight. This marks the 20th visit of CM Revanth Reddy to Delhi since taking office.

It is reported that the visit will last two days and involve discussions including a change in the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, a matter that has been under consideration for several months and is now seeking a resolution.

Additionally, it is understood that invitations will be extended to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for the unveiling of a statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Telangana Secretariat. Rahul Gandhi is also expected to be invited to a rally in Warangal, focusing on the issue of loan waivers. The expansion of the state cabinet and upcoming local elections are also expected to be discussed.

However, CM Revanth Reddy has faced criticism for making 20 trips to Delhi in just over eight months, with critics questioning the necessity and cost of these visits. They argue that, aside from one or two significant purposes, the trips have largely been for party-related activities, with little tangible benefit for the state.

Questions have been raised about whether any funds were secured from the central government or whether any major projects or investments were brought back to Telangana as a result of these frequent trips. Critics also point out that previous visits, such as the five-day stay in Delhi in June, yielded no apparent results, even as state administration was set aside.

Along with CM Revanth Reddy, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, AICC Secretary Deepadas Munsi, Nalgonda MP Raghuveer Reddy, and advisor Harkara Venugopal were part of the delegation. Party sources also mentioned that Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka would join the group in Delhi on Friday morning.
