Twin Shocks to Naidu

Chandra Babu Naidu, who is on cloud nine following his dandayatra in Telangana, was in a rude shock as two judgements – one from Supreme court and another from RR district metropolitan court, issued him noticesin different cases yesterday.

The Supreme Court issued notice to Chandra-babu Naidu on a petition seeking a probe into his alleged role in the Emaar scam. Notices were issued to the AP government, CBI, Enforcement Directorate and income-tax department among others on a special leave petition filed by Bheem Reddy Yella Reddy, a freedom fighter from Warangal. Mr Yella Reddy moved to Supreme court after the AP High Court declined to entertain his petition seeking to extend the APIIC-Emaar scam probe to cover the Naidu regime. He had alleged that Emaar was also benefitted due to the alleged irregularities during the tenure of Mr Naidu as chief minister.

Meanwhile, the 11th Metropolitan court of Ranga Reddy district also ordered Naidu to appear before the court on Feb 9th. The court was reacting to a petition by a writ petition by two Telangana lawyers Krishna and Janardhan Goud. The petitioners mentioned how Naidu has promised his support for Telangana in the 2009 election manifesto and also in the All-Party meeting held on 7th December 2009 and later changed his stand following the 9th December statement of Home Minister P. Chidambaram.

The petitioners say that this amounts to cheating the Telangana people and Naidu is liable under IPC.
