The Telangana government is planning to bring several key reforms in school education, including introduction of English medium teaching in all government schools from the next academic year.

However, the school education department has found that only 10,000 of the available government teachers in the state can teach in English medium. The government teachers will have to undergo a special training session to improve their English language skills.

According to a recent proposal by the school education department, a new teacher training module would be designed soon to train these teachers. As part of the training, teachers will attend classroom teaching, various exercises and a test at end of the training session. The training session would last for nearly six months, which includes a 10-day session in Hyderabad and weekly classes at their respective district centres for rest of the duration.

A senior official of the school education department said it is a continuous process and it would be held in different phases. In the first phase, nearly 20,000 teachers would be trained.

Apart from this, the state government is also planning to introduce digital teaching in government schools. The school education department in collaboration with IT department would provide necessary infrastructure to introduce digital teaching.

As part of online teaching, digital version of all school textbooks will be created. Schools will also be provided computers and projectors.
