TS Formation Day: Government to Celebrate on Grand Scale

The state government will celebrate the first anniversary of Telangana formation in a grand manner on June 2.

The State Cabinet which met here on Tuesday discussed about how to celebrate the first State’s formation day.

According to sources, the Cabinet has decided to organise week-long celebrations from June 2 to 8. It was decided to release Rs 1 crore to each district for the celebrations. The maximum amount to be spent on celebrations will not exceed Rs 20 crore.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said in the meet that a festive atmosphere should prevail during the week-long celebrations.

The Cabinet has also decided to honour prominent persons in different fields on the occasion.

Essay writing and singing competitions will be held for schoolchildren. Detail guidelines on state formation celebrations will be issued later, sources said.

Ex gratia to Constables: Meanwhile, the State Cabinet ratified the decision to increase the ex gratia amount from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 40 lakh to police constables who died while dealing extremist incidents.

The Cabinet has also decided to constitute a Cabinet sub-committee under the chairmanship of home minister N Narasimha Reddy to decide the amount to be paid to other persons who were injured or lost properties during extremist attacks. Finance minister E Rajender and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao will be the members of the Cabinet sub-committee.

Police Recruitment: The Cabinet also ratified the earlier decision of the government to fill around 3,500 posts of constables and others in the police department. The TSPSC will issue a notification in this regard soon.

Tariff Concession to Sircilla Weavers: The Cabinet also sanctioned Rs 7.19 crore tariff concession to Sircilla power-loom weavers for 2010-14.
