TRS slams Congress over suspension of MPs from Telangana

Slamming the suspension of Congress MPs from Telangana region from the Lok Sabha, TRS on Tuesday said that the ruling party will have to pay a heavy price for the move.

“The suspension of Telangana Parliament members is unfortunate. The government failed to implement the promise (to form separate Telangana) it made on the floor of the House. Instead, it chose to throw the MPs out of Parliament. This is undemocratic,” TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao said in a release.

“Telangana people would throw out Congress from the region, which has thrown out its own MPs. This is an insult to Telangana people, Parliament and democracy. Congress will have to pay a heavy price for this,” Rao, Lok Sabha member from Mahabubnagar, said.

Besides Chandrasekhar Rao, Vijayashanti is the other TRS Lok Sabha member.

In an unprecedented action, Congress on Tuesday suspended eight of its members in the Lok Sabha for causing disruptions over Telangana issue in the House.

On a motion moved by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister and party’s Chief Whip PK Bansal, the House suspended Ponnam Prabhakar, Madhu Yaskhi Goud, M Jagannath, KRG Reddy, G Vivekananda, Balram Naik, Gutha Sukhender Reddy and S Rajaiah, all elected on Congress ticket from the Telangana region.
