Tourists from different parts of the State are, of late, thronging the Bogatha Waterfalls, also known as ‘Niagara of Telangana’, located on the Cheekupally stream as there were good inflows following rains in the upper catchment area of the stream for the last one month.
Located about 160 km from Warangal city and 300 km from Hyderabad on the National Highway 163 (Hyderabad – Bhopalpatnam of Chhattisgarh), the Bogatha Waterfalls is witnessing a steady rise in the tourist footfall ever since high level bridge constructed at Mullakatta across Godavari river near Eturunagaram village was thrown open last year.
Bogatha Waterfall in Telangana WazeeduTourists not only from the district and neighbouring places but also from Hyderabad city are queuing up at the tourist destinations including Laknavaram Lake and Hemachala Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple located on the hillocks at Mallur in Mangapet mandal in the district.
Purnachandar, a private employee from Hyderabad, said he along with his friends had arrived at Bhupalpally districts to cover Bogatha, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and Laknavaram Lake in Govindaraopet mandal.
“We came directly to Bogatha waterfalls. However, we are planning to visit the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Mallur and also Laknavaram Lake during our return journey. We have enjoyed a lot at the Bogatha falls. And the road from Pasra to Eturunagaram stretch which lies in the Eturunagaram wildlife sanctuary is awesome,” he added.
Dinesh Kumar, an engineering graduate from Warangal city, said he along with his friend Srinivas had arrived at the Bogatha waterfalls on the bike after they had come to know about the good inflows into the stream which make beautiful fall of waters. Many tourists irrespective of age and gender have been seen enjoying a swim or bath in the waters near the falls at Bogatha. Meanwhile, some others have complained about lack of basic facilities at the waterfalls.
“There is no proper road from the highway to the waterfalls. Though an earthen road was made, it becomes slippery due to rains. Since hundreds of tourists are visiting this place every day, a pucca road must be constructed,” opined G Srinivas from Warangal. On the other hand, the tourists are alleging that the local police were imposing foolish regulations on the tourists. “The police are even asking us to wear only trousers. They say one shouldn’t wear shorts. It is ridiculous,” said Naresh, a tourist from Hyderabad.
