Rs 1,410 Cr to Energise Panchayat System

In a bid to rejuvenate Panchayat Raj system, the state government would spend a whopping `1410.09 crore for 2014-15 financial year from the 13 Financial Commission funds.

Of the total amount, 70 per cent of the funds would be allocated to gram panchayats, 10 per cent to mandal parishads and 20 pc towards strengthening zilla parishads. The funds would be disbursed according to priorities of people gathered during ‘Mana Ooru- Mana Pranalika’ programme, IT and panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao said.

“Specific guidelines have been issued to officers at all levels in utilising these funds. Main focus will be laid on providing clean drinking water, maintaining roads and construction of school buildings, toilets in villages,” he added.

The minister further said that sarpanches should prepare annual plan for their respective villages based on officials instructions. Plans drawn up for the purpose by sarpanches should be submitted to district panchayat officials, he added.
