Reduce import dependence on edible oil, minister Mr KTR.

Minister Sri KTR delivered the keynote address at IVPA ‘Global Roundtable on Veg Oil and Oilseed Sector’. He presented Telangana Govt.’s plan to cultivate oil palm in 20 lakh acres in the next 5 years. This will reduce import dependence on edible oil seeds, he added.

Minister said that as paddy production in the State has increased from 6.8 million metric tons in 2014 to 25.9 million metric tons this year, the Telangana Govt. has started extending support to farmers to take up oil palm cultivation.

Telangana has a good mix of soybean, groundnut, and sunflower production. Palm Oil will be added to the list. Therefore, I invite the chief executives of Agro processing companies to invest in Telangana as the raw material required will be available for them: Minister KTR

The Industries Minister also urged them to look at the food processing sector as the State has earmarked 10,000 acres of land for Telangana Special Food Processing Zones. Telangana will meet or beat offers made by other States to the Agro or Agro processing companies, he assured.

Minister gave out the salient features of path-breaking TS-iPASS policy and detailed on how doing business in Telangana is different and easier compared to other States. Also presented the vibrant ecosystem of Lifesciences, IT, and spoke about the Kaleshwaram Project and its outcomes.

Agriculture Minister Sri Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, IVPA President, Sudhakar Desai, Vice-Presidents Vipin Gupta and Hemant Bansal, were among those present on the occasion.
