Women safety, top priority for Telangana govt

The state government is undertaking a range of measures to ensure a safe environment for women in the state, with a special focus on Hyderabad, the capital city.

As soon as coming to power, CM K Chandrashekar Rao appointed a committee to study the current scenario and recommend measures on women safety. The committee headed by senior IAS officer Poonam Malakondaiah had submitted its report recently. The state government immediately started implementing many of the recommendations of the committee.

Police department has formed 100 SHE teams to nab eve-teasers. These teams have already rounded up several people and slapped cases against them.

Hyderabad police are also ensuring all private cabs plying in the city are properly registered. The police are affixing “I am Safe” stickers with details about Driver and Owner of the vehicle. The department aims to complete this exercize by Dec 31st.
