TRS implementing manifesto: Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said the Congress that had promised to give gas connections, housing and rice to the poor in its manifesto had failed to deliver the same during its regime. Quoting from the Congress manifesto released during the 2009 elections, Mr. Harish Rao said the party also promised to upgrade thands into gram panchayats but failed to do so.

“The TRS government is only 16 month old and we have already begun implementing our manifesto. But Congress leaders are misleading people by accusing our party,” he said. The TRS government was procuring maize and rice from the farmers while the Centre has to procure cotton from farmers. There were no complaints from paddy and maize farmers. It was the BJP that promised to enhance the minimum support price for Cotton but failed to do so, he said.

The BJP leaders in the State were misguiding people but in reality the Centre was not cooperating with the State government. The BJP favoured Bihar and Andhra Pradesh giving packages but not Telangana. “They said the State government did not give land to wagon factory in Kazipet. We have already handed over the land and let Dattatreya tell people the Centre will allocate budget for the same now,” Mr. Rao said.

The Congress had lost trust of people and now BJP was losing ground all over the country. Both the parties are fighting for second place in Warangal by-election, he said.
