“Telangana, the best among the best,” says Congress Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu

Congress Minister from Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Telangana Government and its leadership. “Telangana is number one and I wish it retains the position,” he said. Taking Telangana as an example, the Punjab government will come up with a sand mining policy to raise more revenues.

Minister Sidhu along with a team of the delegation visited Telangana on a three-day study tour to study the sand mining policy. He has been appointed as the chairman of a Cabinet sub-committee on mining along with Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal and Rural and Panchayats Minister Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa.

Talking to the newsmen at a press conference held in Hyderabad, Minister Sidhu said, “Telangana Mining Policy is the best when compared to rest of the country. It can act as a game changer for Punjab’s economy.”

What came as a surprise is that, at a time when Telangana Congress leaders are struggling to come up with issues to criticise the Government led by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Navjot Singh Sidhu has appreciated the government for its commendable work in past four years. He said, “When we consulted Government of India, they said the lighthouse of as far as sand mining is concerned, is Telangana. Now that is something incredible.” He went on and said, “A state which got independent in 2014 was earning 10 crores and today it’s earning 43 crores in 11 days. That is what we earn in one year.”

Taking an optimistic approach, he said, “If Telangana, with just one and a half river, can get such huge revenues, Punjab which has more should be able to get more.”
