Telangana leaders fire on Azad for irresponsible remarks

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) responded in a strong way, countering the statement of the Congress senior leader Gulam Nabi Azad who said there was no role of the TRS in formation of Telangana State.

TRS MP from Karimnagar B Vinod Kumar strongly objected to the statements of Azad undermining the role of TRS in formation of separate Telangana State. He said, “I challenge Azad for a debate on the issue to present the facts of separate statehood movement before people of Telangana state.

Vinod Kumar went ahead and said that the Congress was forced to concede to the demand of a separate Telangana state due to efforts of TRS which convinced 32 political parties to support the separate Telangana agitation. “Congress leaders got accustomed to speak lies for electoral gains and blame TRS for their mistakes in the past. Azad is no exception,” he added.

Senior leaders across the parties condemned Azad’s statement about TRS and called him ignorant about the history of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

BJP leader and Secunderabad MP Bandaru Dattatreya said. “Because the Congress had dilly-dallied on creation of the new State from 2004 to 2014, people of Telangana rejected them in the 2014 general elections and the same will be repeated in the coming Assembly elections,” he added.
