Rs 25 Crore Sanctioned to RR Dist for Drinking Water

To meet the drinking water needs during summer in Ranga Reddy district, the state government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for the district, transport minister P Mahender Reddy has said. Several municipalities on the outskirts of the city falling under RR district can heave a sigh of relief if the government makes its plan a success.

Inaugurating the mineral water plant and kitchen room in a school at Mokila village in Shankarpally mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Sunday, the minister said where there is a shortage of drinking water due to drying of borewells and steps are being taken to supply drinking water through water tankers. Efforts are underway to revive the defunct borewells.

On the request of local people for a burial grounds in Mokila, Mahender Reddy said that steps would be taken to identify suitable lands for establishing graveyard at the earliest.

Mahender Reddy also inaugurated various developmental works worth Rs 6.61 crore in Saroornagar mandal relating to road works that include Champapet to Badangpet (Rs 80 lakh), Sahebnagar to Lenin Nagar (Rs 1.95 crore), Nadergul to Balapur (Rs 60 lakh) and Nadergul to Bonguluru (Rs 2.08 crore).

Food Centre Opened: Earlier in the day, Mahender Reddy also inaugurated ready-to eat Rs 5 food centre at BHEL junction. This is the 26th food centre launched by the GHMC.

He appreciated GHMC and Akshaya Patra in providing hygienic food to poor and needy people for Rs 5 per plate meal.

He said the state government is implementing several welfare schemes for the benefit of poor in the state. A two bedroom flat for poor is also being taken up by the government.

GHMC special officer Somesh Kumar said that 9,000 persons are being served food at Rs 5 per plate meals. GHMC proposes to open 100 food centres in the GHMC limits during the current year.
