Recruitment for 1 Lakh Government Jobs in 4-5 Months

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday announced that the government would “100% ” fill up all vacancies in government departments by relaxing the upper age limit by five years. “We will take up the process in the next four-five months. Unemployed youth need not get disheartened,” he said in the Assembly in reply to the debate on unemployment initiated by BJP member K Laxman under Rule 344.

The government, KCR said, will fill up around one lakh jobs. He asserted the government had clarity on the issue and pointed out that the exact number of vacancies would be known once the Kamalanathan Committee allocates state cadre employees between AP and TS. The Sheela Bedi Committee was also on the job of dividing government corporations, he added.

“After this, the government will constitute the Telangana Public Service Commission and start recruitment process in the next four to five months,” the Chief Minister assured the House. When Opposition members wanted the government to give 10-year age relaxation, he replied the government would give maximum age relaxation depending on the circumstances. According to the preliminary report of the Kamalanathan Committee, the total sanctioned posts for Telangana are 5,23,675. Of them, 1,07,744 are vacant. On the issue of contract employees, he said their demand for regularisation would be examined taking the rule of reservation into consideration. There are around 25,000 contract employees in the State. KCR, however, said Aganwadi workers and Rajiv Vidya Mission employees will not be considered government staff.

He explained that TS Genco’s proposed 6,000 MW plants will create 10-12,000 jobs and NTPC’s 4,000 MW plant some more jobs as will the proposed water grid and the restoration of tanks across the State.
