Rains to Continue for Two More Days in AP, Telangana

The heavy rain that lashed Telangana and Andhra Pradesh for the last few days continued on Monday too with Telangana receiving fairly widespread rain, where as the Coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh recorded scattered rainfall. Officials at the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre predict a decrease in rainfall in the next two days.

The well-marked low pressure area formed over North Coastal Andhra and South Odisha coast, which has brought rains to the region has been moving northwestwards to South-Central Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Vidarbha regions. This has led to a decline in the intensity of air circulation. Met officials still predict more rain in North Telangana and moderate to light rain in Coastal Andhra.

However, another spell of heavy rain might be around the corner, says officials. They have predicted chances of yet another low pressure formation in Bay of Bengal on September 4. “As of now, we cannot predict where the low pressure would be formed. If it is formed near our coast, we will get a similar spell of heavy rains, but if it is formed closer to West Bengal coast, Central India will receive heavy rains,” said K Seetaram, scientist, Hyderabad Meteorological Centre.
