Rail Roko Postponed to 12-14 Oct; Govt Hell Bent On Running Trains

Telangana JAC has announced minor changes to the planned rail roko. Instead of 9-11 October, it will now be held from 12-14 October. This decision was taken today to accommodate the employees maha dharna in Hyderabad during the 9-11. Also, T-JAC is planning a Singareni yatra to support the coal mine employees’ agitation.

Speaking to the media, T-JAC chairman Prof.Kondandaram said that only the dates have been changed and not the intensity with which it will be conducted.

Earlier, the Minister of State for Railways had turned down the request from Telangana leaders to stall the railway operations during rail roko. He asked the State Government and Railway Protection Force to provide adequate security, as they are keen on running the trains inspite of the rasta roko. Police and other security agencies had planned a three level protection cover to run the trains.

Reacting to this, Telangana leader Harish Rao warned that any untoward incident would be Government’s responsibility. He asked the T activists to get their vehicles and bullock carts onto the Railway tracks. He called on to them to conduct a five level rail roko to tackle the Government’s protection coverage and stage a jail bharo if any arrests are made.
