OGH Patients to Be Shifted From Today

Patients from four departments of the IP block of Osmania General Hospital will be shifted to Government Maternity Hospital, Sultan Bazaar, and one department to King Koti district hospital.

The shift to King Koti will start from Wednesday, and it will take a few days for the patients from four departments to be shifted to hospital at Sultan Bazaar .

General Medicine, General Surgery, Surgical Gastroenterology and Medical Gastroenterology, will be shifted to the hospital at Sultan Bazaar, and Orthopedics Department to King Koti. Patients from Sultan Bazaar hospital will be shifted to Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburz. Two floors in the latter are unoccupied.

Last week, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao visited OGH’s IP-Block, and announced that patients from the block will be shifted to other premises. He said the building might collapse leading to tragedy.

On Tuesday, discussions were held over shifting of PG Students staying in dilapidated hostel at OGH to Osmania Medical College’s hostel. There is an old, and new building for nurses. The old one would be demolished too.

However, priority will be given to shifting of patients from IP Block, said Telangana Health Minister C Laxma Reddy speaking to Express. “The work to shift Orthopedics Department to King Koti will start from Wednesday. And shifting of patients in other departments to hospital at Sultan Bazaar will take a few days. There is some pending work at Petlaburz hospital which will take two days,” said Laxma Reddy.
