Hyderabad: In a major relief to lakhs of motorists across Telangana, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Thursday that only state and district codes in the vehicle registration numbers would change.
‘AP’ will change to ‘TS’ and the district codes will also be changed. However, the numbers will remain the same.
Vehicle owners need not visit the transport offices to make the changes and can change the number plates by themselves. The High Security Number Plate (HSRP) project has also been put on hold.
This will apply only to vehicles registered in the 10 districts of Telangana and officials indicated that those who had registered their vehicles in AP wouldn’t have to make any changes.
