MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha Meets Nirmala, Seeks Turmeric Park in Nizamabad

MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Wednesday called on Union commerce minister Nirmala Sitaraman in New Delhi and sought setting up of a Turmeric Park in Nizamabad.

Kavitha told the Union minister that the Telangana government had identified and is ready to hand over 40.23 acres for Spice Board to set up Turmeric Park in the state. The state government had identified the land for setting up of the park at Padgal village in Velpoor mandal of Nizamabad district.

‘’We have already written to the Union government over giving the required land for setting up the park. However, there was no response from the government,’’ Kavitha told the Union minister and asked the latter to start works on the park.

Sitaraman reportedly told Kavitha that the Centre is keen on setting up the park and assured to start the works at the earliest.

Kavitha also met Union urban development minister Birender Singh and took up issues relating to problems being faced in villages with respect to farming and basic infrastructure. It is also learnt that Kavitha told the minister that except for Hyderabad, all the other nine districts in the state are backward and sought funds under various schemes for their development.

Later speaking to mediapersons, Kavitha expressed unhappiness over non-implementation of assurances and provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act even after one year of the NDA government coming to power. ‘’Telangana and AP governments should jointly fight against the Centre and get what is due to them.
