KCR Announces Incentives to Water Grid Contractors

Chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced 1.5 per cent incentive to Water Grid contractors, who complete works within the stipulated time.

He announced this at a review on Water Grid on Wednesday. The state government has already announced one per cent incentive to irrigation contractors, who complete works on time. Now, KCR announced 1.5 per cent incentives to Water Grid contractors as well.

KCR directed the officials to complete the pipeline works which would provide drinking water to Hyderabad. As many as nine Assembly segments would be given water from the Hyderabad mainline. He directed the officials to complete the works and provide drinking water to the nine Assembly segments by April 30.

The chief minister also directed the officials to appoint Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) exclusively for Water Grid works so as to bring required permission sooner.

Under the Right of Way Act enacted by the state government, Water Grid pipelines would be laid in six feet in any land. “One of the Water Grid pipelines is passing through my farm house in Erravalli. No one including the chief minister is above the Act and their lands will be used for laying Water Grid pipelines,” he said.

The CM wanted TS Genco CMD Prabhakar Rao to sanction required sub-stations and transformers to supply sufficient power for the Water Grid programme.

“I have already made it clear that if the Water Grid programme is not completed, I will not seek votes in the next elections. The people too are eagerly waiting for the Water Grid. The entire country is showing keen interest in the programme,” he said. During the review, KCR enquired about the progress of Water Grid works in each and every district. The chief minister also reviewed progress of intake wells, water treatment plants and pipeline works.

Panchayat raj minister KT Rama Rao, irrigation minister T Harish Rao, RWS engineer-in-chief Surender Reddy were present.
