Kavitha Gives Rs 1.5L Assistance to Cop for Swimming Contest

Telangana Jagruthi on Wednesday extended financial assistance to a police constable, who recently won medals at the national-level swimming competitions, to facilitate the swimmer to participate in the International Masters Swimming Championship to be held at Kazan in Russia from August 5-16.

The financial assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh was handed over to the constable, Navate Srinivas, by Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha.

Srinivas is a constable attached to Nizamabad I Town police station and resident of Gajulpet in Nizamabad.

Srinivas won silver and bronze medals at the national swimming championship held at Gulbarga recently.

The Swimming Federation of India has selected Srinivas for the International Masters Swimming Championship to be held in Russia.

Srinivas also part of the team of police which conducted rescue operations in Beas river last year where more than 20 students from AP and TS were washed away in flash floods. Srinivas fished out four bodies in the search operation.

Accompanied by additional director general of police (sports) Rajiv Tridevi and Srinivas met Kavitha. The Nizamabad MP wished that Srinivas win more competitions and bring laurels to the country and also to the Telangana state.
