Health sector in the erstwhile combined state of Andhra Pradesh was ignored by successive previous governments for decades, but since the formation of Telangana State and the TRS party coming into power, several measures are being taken to improve facilities in the public health sector.

Petla burj Maternity hospital in Hyderabad is one such example of the transformation of public health sector.

Petla burj located in the old city has more than 1000 OP patients visiting per day. Taking this footfall into consideration, Health Minister C. Laxma Reddy under the guidance of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao ordered concerned officials to set up an MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit) in MGMH Petla burj, Hyderabad.

Apart from this, a Gynaec couch, Pulse Oximeter, ECG Machine, syringe and infusion pumps, over bed table, Bipap and a central monitoring station have been setup.

Currently, the MICU unit of MGMH Petla burj is a full fledged ICU replete with modern medical equipment on per with modern ICU units of other corporate hospitals, which can provide the best emergency services.
