With the efforts of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the historic monument Charminar is regaining its glory. In a recent development, the Centre has declared Charminar as the special Swachh Iconic Place under Swachh Bharat Mission.
Telangana Government initiated the Charminar Pedestrianisation Project (CPP) has given a fresh look to the iconic monument and ensured cleanliness and sanitation in its premises.
The Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation will be presenting the award to GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore in New Delhi on October 2 as part of the fourth-anniversary celebrations of Swachh Bharat Mission.
The government is continuing the beautification works at Charminar and has already completed granite pavement works from Charminar to Gulzar Houz and Charminar to Sardar Mahal have been completed. This apart, granite cobbler laying works in the Charminar buffer zone have also been done and the majority of the works are nearing completion.
GHMC is planning to purchase new equipment and vehicles in order to ensure cleanliness at the historic monument.
