Enrollments in Telangana state-run educational institutions have increased enormously. While enrollments in Government Junior colleges have seen an increase of 3000 plus students, the new enrollments in degree colleges have crossed above 10,000.
In the 2017-18 academic year, 30,517 students enrolled for the degree programmes in government degree colleges, whereas in 2018-2019 academic year, a total of 40,796 students have enrolled, said a report in Deccan Chronicle.
The Government degree colleges have received about 50 percent more students with Telangana Degree Online Services playing a major role in increasing the student enrollment.
The demand for English medium has increased in Hyderabad and RangaReddy districts. To accommodate the interests of the students, the Government of Telangana has newly introduced various courses in the English medium.
Introducing new courses in English medium and increasing the number of seats in colleges has helped in the rise in enrollments said an official from Higher Education Department. Apart from introducing new courses, the government had also addressed long pending issues concerning the student fraternity.
