The Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TIIC), in a joint venture with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), is planning to set up a solar farm on 6, 000 acre in Mahabubnagar district with a generation capacity of 1, 000 Mw.

“Work on this project is in a preliminary stage. While we have already identified the land, we are working closely with SECI on how to take the project forward,”said K Pradeep Chandra, special chief secretary and commissioner of industrial promotion, industries and commerce department, Telangana government. He was speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of PaperTech 2014, a two-day conference with the theme ‘Make Indian pulp and paper industry world class’ that kicked-off here on Friday.

Stating that the paper industry going hand-in-hand with green technology companies for sustainable environment was the need of the hour, Chandra said the state government was laying more thrust on green technologies as they offered huge investment opportunities in Telangana.

“We are inviting potential investors to take advantage of these opportunities. We, on our part, will provide all possible support to ensure an overall sustainable development,” he said, adding the government would incorporate elements such as green technologies in the proposed new industrial policy that it was currently drafting.
